The Spring Heeled Studios Mission

  • TO CREATE ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECES TO HELP ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCES OF OTHERS.

  • TO IMPART KNOWLEDGE to THOSE INTERESTED IN CREATIVE PURSUITS THEMSELVES.

  • TO HAVE A DAMN GOOD TIME DOING IT.

Making the Improbable…

Spring Heeled Studios was founded in 2019 by Tobias McCurry, and over the years has evolved into a creative outlet, providing props and costuming to the masses across the United States while remaining based in Renton, Washington.

At the core, Spring Heeled Studios is a celebration of imagination, ingenuity and craftsmanship. SHS exists to passionately craft one-of-a-kind pieces, seeking to elevate and enrich the worlds of clients and fellow enthusiasts alike. Our journey began with a humble idea and a deep-rooted passion for creating memorable and immersive stories, which quickly evolved into a business in and of itself when the aspect of production value got involved.

Inspired by a dedication to impart knowledge and share the joy of creation, SHS exists to offer insights into the world of props, costuming, and much more. We believe that by spreading the drive of creativity, we can make obtaining the improbable far more possible for all.

Our dedication goes beyond our studio's walls. As proud participants in Live Action Roleplaying and Conventions, we merge our love for creation with the thrill of collaborative storytelling. These ventures fuel our imagination, allowing us to craft experiences that resonate long after an adventure ends.

Every piece that leaves the studio is infused with the beloved spite, joyous inspiration, and ideally not the blood (no promises) of Spring Heeled Studios—where shenanigans reign, creativity bounds, and the journey is just as wild as the destination.

-Tobias McCurry-
the story so far

Tobias, for many moons, has been specializing in costume design, prop making, and performance. He gained infamy through his appearance on the TV show Steampunk'd and is known for his unique approach to costume design in which he integrates special effects and often realistic practicality. With a background in performance, including sword fighting, fire breathing, stilt walking, and over ten years of technical theatre and live event production experience, Tobias is a jack of all trades in many fields.

Having worked on both sides of a stage as both a performer and an event producer, he has extensive experience in Live Action Roleplaying (LARP) across the United States and has participated and worked in a variety of genres including Medieval Fantasy, Post-Apocalyptic, Cyberpunk, Steampunk, and more.

Tobias is proud to have had the opportunity to participate on projects involving various independent game studios, Critical Role, The Warp Zone, and more to bring even the most foolhardy and bombastic visions to life.
